About the event
Every day, news headlines and stories from around the globe remind us of our changing planet. In response, many of us are experiencing feelings of helplessness, frustration, and fear, known as 'eco anxiety'.
Eco-anxiety is a normal and appropriate response to the crisis we're seeing unfold. But, how do we deal with our feelings?
On April 20th, in the lead-up to Earth Day, Climathon Waikato, in partnership with us here Seed Waikato will be hosting a free online event to explore:
- what eco-anxiety is and the mental health dimensions of a planet in distress
- ways to navigate eco-anxiety, build emotional resilience, and meet ourselves with compassion
- how to channel eco-anxiety and take positive action for the planet
We'll be joined by regional and national speakers, including (with more to be announced soon):
- Michal Garvey (Founder and Director of Foodprint NZ)
- Lucy McLean (Clinical Psychologist and eco-anxiety researcher)
- Dylan Chand (Founder of the Climate Action Conference and former Youth Climate Catalyst at Auckland Council)
We welcome those of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and genders to join us.
It doesn't matter whether you just want to learn more about sustainability, or are already a passionate climate activist ... this will be a safe space for gentle exploration, honest discussions, and positive action.
