In the last central government election, 30% of young people that could vote, didn’t. Why do we believe voting is a choice, rather than a responsibility as a citizen of Aotearoa?

That’s why we’re throwing a Political Punch, giving YOU an epic opportunity to get to know the attitudes, beliefs and behaviour of our political parties. Thanks to our incredible MC, Holly Bennett, we’ve co-created an event that bring together six representatives to facilitate a conversation, sharing ideas.

We’ve sent in a handful of questions ahead of time for the representatives, and there will an opportunity to ask any burning questions in a Q&A on the night. We’re expecting questions about housing, climate change, mental health, employment, ageing population, and income inequality.

The politicians involved in the event (in alphabetical order) are Barbara Kuriger MP, National Party | Brooke van Velden, Act Party | Darroch Ball MP, NZ First | Donna Pokere Philips, The Opportunities Party | Jamie Strange MP, Labour Party | Sam Taylor, Green Party

A massive mihi to our event sponsors: HSB Government Relations, University of Waikato Alumni, Ushare, and Waikato Students Union!
